Homecoming

So this one... I'm loving the mid ground, great details again; nice sense of space and the colouring again is really impressive. What bothers me here and in your other recent posts is this depth of field obsession. Foreground and background both blurred out. It really needs to be done with brush strokes to work effectively rather than a filter - otherwise it just looks...well, blurred! The figure here also appears to have a separate colour palette to the rest of the image, so add that to the blur and he just doesn't sit within the environment. I do love the reflection on his left shoulder and if his right side were sharp it would really jump out. It's a great pose and a nice comp. Figures are always the focal point in a scene - the only reason to blur him out would be to lead your eye to something else, in this scene it could be the house but that is blurred out too! So it makes the centre ground the focus and there is nothing there. I'm guessing he is on a separate layer? I would love to see you redo this with more emphasis on that figure. Consider it a challenge!
